How electing a pope can be thrilling

Welcome to this series of posts about movies, books and everything in between that I once chose to call, 1 Daily Review. Obviously I will not keep the pace I foolishly setup before of 1 review daily since I cannot either recall enough content I've watched to write something nor feel like doing it would be attainable long term.

Well, today we will start with a movie that I recently watched, with the only knowledge that it was based on a book of the same name by Robert Harris, none other that the author of the Hannibal Lecter books and that it had Voldemort in it (Ralph Fiennes, the actor behind Voldemort on the Harry Potter movies). This gave me hope but I was also wary of it since the topic of the movie is something that very much can lead to a dramatic, slow plot that could deter me from watching something in the first place.

Having said this, I can say with confidence that the movie really wasn't what I was expecting and it surprised me in a good way, I enjoyed it from beginning to end and it got me hooked on all fronts. The story, the visuals, the acting, and I am saying this as someone that is neither a critic nor an expert in film or cinema, but as someone who enjoys movies and watches a ton, the movies is very very good.

It might seem at moments that you are not going to see anything happen and then, boom! you get something, and again, and again until you are super invested and it is very well done.

I cannot compare this to the book since I've yet to read it but as of today, the moment I am writing this, it is currently my favorite contender for this year's (2025) Academy Awards on multiple categories.

I hope you enjoyed my first piece and look forward to the next ones. I invite you to subscribe; currently only Gmail accounts are successfully receiving any updates on the site (I am working on fixing this), or to simply come back and read more of my reviews. Thanks for reading me!
